MANILA, Philippines – A Roman Catholic website based in the United Kingdom has named Filipino congressman Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao as one of the "10 Amazing Young Catholics."

In an article for the Catholic Herald, Mary O'Regan placed Pacquiao at number 6 in her list of "ten young people from different walks of life who are living out their Catholic faith in extraordinary ways."

The writer notes that Pacquiao frequently acknowledges that his success inside the boxing ring are blessings from God.

"Before each boxing match, he kneels in prayer, asking for the grace that he needs to win the fight. After each bout, he organizes a Mass of thanksgiving, thanking God that neither he nor his opponent have been harmed," O'Regan writes.

She further notes that as a congressman, Pacquiao is fighting against the Reproductive Health Bill.

"He supports the Church hierarchy in its opposition to contraception and has also opposed a bill to legalize divorce," she adds.

"Manny has been pilloried by his more liberal political colleagues, but he maintains that marriage is an institution that should not be violated by lawmakers and that better marriage preparation must be provided instead," O'Regan said.

Other people on the list include Lila Rose, the founder of pro-life campaign Live Action, and Rocco Palmo, a Catholic blogger also known as the Church Whisperer.
