Pacman's fight draws mixed reactions
MANILA, Philippines — A House of Representatives colleague of Sarangani Representative Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao yesterday accused promoters of Pacquiao’s fight with Juan Manuel Marquez of cashing in on the match by robbing the Mexican of a clear victory.
Iloilo Representative Niel Tupas Jr., chairman of the House Committee on Justice, said he cheered for Pacquiao but the fight should have been given to Marquez who he said won convincingly on points.
However, a number of congressmen quickly ganged up on Tupas as they chided the Liberal Party (LP) solon of getting the “wrong view” of the Pacquiao victory borne out from a unanimous decision of the three judges for the fight.
Manila Representative Amado Bagatsing, who watched the fight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, said Pacquiao’s victory was convincing, adding that the judges scored the fight fairly.
Representatives Roilo Golez (LP, ParaƱaque City), Juan Edgardo Angara (LDP, Aurora), and Mark Aeron Sambar (PBA Party-list) also rejected Tupas’ view.
Pacquiao did not only live up again to his moniker Pambansang Kamao (national fist), he likewise proved anew, that he is the national pacifier as well.
This developed after the Philippine National Police (PNP) declared a zero-crime incident during the time Pacquiao was slugging it out with Marquez.
“Virtually no crime incident happened during the entire 12-round title fight by People's Champ Manny Pacquiao with Mexican Challenger Juan Manuel Marquez in Las Vegas, Nevada,” said Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz Jr., PNP spokesman.
In Samar, burglars broke into an LBC branch in Catbalogan City at 12:35 p.m. yesterday and carted away undetermined amount of cash. LBC is one of the sponsors of the delayed telecast over a local radio station.
In Manila, police reported a theft case when members of the notorious Salisi Gang preyed on a Canadian tourist at the CCP Complex in Pasay City at around 12 noon.
Earlier in Manila, a motorcycle was stolen while parked at 11 a.m. outside the Del Pan Sports Center.
“But elsewhere across the country, the Police Regional Offices reported zero crime indicating a generally peaceful and orderly situation as Filipino sports fans cheered for the Pinoy boxing hero,” said Cruz.
In a related development, soldiers also scored another victory against the New People’s Army (NPA) insurgents as they pursued the local communist rebels in separate operations in Mindanao and Bicol region.
This developed after military officials said that while Filipinos prepared to watch the Pacquiao-Marquez fight, soldiers maintained their vigilance against elements who might attempt to take advantage and stage lawless activities.
Maj. Eugenio Julio Osias IV, 4th Infantry Division (4ID) spokesman, said that at about 5:45 a.m. yesterday, troopers from 58th Infantry Battalion under Lt. Col. George Banzon encountered about 20 fully-armed NPA insurgents in Barangay San Miguel, Gingoog City.
Osias said the scout platoon of 58IB led by 2Lt. Karl Jan S. Devaras, responding to reports coming from civilians in Gingoog City, conducted combat operations against the insurgents believed to be members of the NPA Guerilla Front 4B of the North Central Mindanao Regional Committee. The insurgents were said to be conducting extortion activities in the area.
In Masbate, Maj. Angelo Guzman, 9th Infantry Division (9ID) spokesman, said amid the much hyped Pacquiao-Marquez fight on Sunday, a 15-man group of soldiers encountered about 15 NPA insurgents around 6 a.m. at Sitio Matagbac in Milagros town. (With reports from Aaron B. Recuenco and Elena L. Aben)

Pacquiao in close win
Leaves Marquez claiming ‘I got robbed;’ points to a fourth rematch in 2012
LAS VEGAS, Nevada – There seems to be no end in sight to the storied Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao- Juan Manuel Marquez rivalry and everything points to a fourth fight in May, 2012.
In another action-packed battle between the Filipino power-puncher and the Mexican counter-puncher, Pacquiao was awarded a 12-round majority decision Saturday night (Sunday in Manila) over Marquez before a sell-out crowd of 16,368 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
Marquez fought going backward all night, and that might have been his undoing. While he landed well at times, Pacquiao was in his face most of the night.
“I got robbed,” Marquez said. “I don’t know what else I can do to win.”
But in an interview aired over GMA-7 in Manila Sunday, Pacquiao admitted difficulty in beating Marquez in their third match.
When asked regarding his reaction over the remarks of other boxing fans watching the fight live here, Pacquiao said he respects the opinions of other persons – whether pro or anti.
“Kasama sa laro ‘yan (It’s part of the game),” Pacquiao pointed out.
But he claimed that it was a “close fight.”
Robert Hoyle scored it a draw at 114-114, while Dave Moretti saw it 115-113 and Glenn Trowbridge had it 116-112, both for Pacquiao, who was pushed to the limit once more in a defense of his World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight title.
Pacquiao won some rounds with sheer aggression, while Marquez won others with brilliant counterpunching – practically keeping Pacquiao from getting inside.
Marquez was a 7-1 underdog, but it was clear early he would be in this fight.
But when the decision was announced, the crowd booed roundly and, once again Marquez had lost a close fight.
One ringside judge had it at a 114-114 draw, while two others favored Pacquiao by 115-113 and 116-112. The Associated Press had it at 114-114.
The sellout crowd at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, threw bottles and cans toward ringside after the decision was announced, with one full can hitting a ringside writer.
Marquez, who had been bitter about the scoring in the first two fights, stormed out of the ring.
While most of those in attendance thought Marquez deserved the verdict, compubox revealed the opposite as Pacquiao threw 578 punches and landed 176 (30 percent) of them, while Marquez unloaded 436 and connected with just 138 (32 percent).
Pacquiao won all departments as he threw a total of 274 power punches and landed 117 (43 percent), and Marquez let loose 254 and hit only 100 (39 percent), aside from firing and connecting more jabs, 304 (59 connected) to Marquez’s 182 (38 landed).
Pacquiao also averaged 49 punches a round and 14 landed, while Marquez had 36 and landed 11.
Unable to live up to expectations that he will destroy Marquez and settle the issue between them once and for all, Pacquiao found the 38-year-old Mexican boxer much tougher than the one he fought in May 2004 and March 2008.
Still, Pacquiao said he had done enough to earn the judges’ nod and is looking forward to a fourth clash with Marquez.
“I won the fight. I blocked lots of his punches,” said Pacquiao. “Yes, I want to give him a rematch.”
Under the agreement signed by the two fighters, a fourth fight will only be considered in the event Marquez emerges victorious.
But because many those in the arena and those watching it on television here and around the world thought Marquez was the clear winner, promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank has no choice but to set up a fourth fight.
“We will do the rematch in May 2012 if we get the fighters to agree.
I am bound and determined to find a definitive winner once and for all,” said Arum.
Meanwhile, President Aquino congratulated Pacquiao for displaying the true grit and strength of Filipinos after defeating Marquez in a close fight.
Although miles away from the country, the President joined the Filipino nation in celebrating Pacquiao’s latest victory and expressed hope the Filipino boxer will continue to help and inspire Filipinos whether in boxing or public service.
“Kaisa ang sambayanang Pilipino, malugod kong binabati si Congressman Manny Pacquiao sa kanyang matagumpay na pagdepensa sa WBO Welterweight belt laban kay Juan Manuel Marquez sa Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. Sa kanilang ikatlong paghaharap ni Marquez, muling ipinamalas ni Manny ang tatag at lakas ng Pinoy sa buong mundo (I join the Filipino nation in congratulating Congressman Manny Pacquiao for triumphantly defending his WBO Welterweight belt against Juan Manuel Varquez in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. In their third encounter, Manny has showed anew the strength and determination of Filipinos in the world),” the President said in a statement issued from Hawaii where he is attending a summit of Pacific Rim leaders.
Like in the previous meetings, Pacquiao was the stalker and Marquez the hunted one, but unlike before, it was Marquez who landed the more telling blows this time, magnifying it even further by Pacquiao’s inability to land his killer punches.
Two right hands by Marquez in the seventh round and their thumping sound heard several rows from the ring.
Pacquiao also had his moments, of course, as he struck Marquez with his favorite left hand but it did not land squarely on the jaw, enabling Marquez to remain vertical.
Freddie Roach, who had predicted a blowout win for Pacquiao, said he was stunned by Marquez’s superb showing by showering him with praises.
“Marquez took Manny’s punches much better this time. He had great success with his right hand,” said Roach.
Pacquiao said Marquez’s style really troubled him, citing that Marquez “was always waiting for a great shot.”
It could not be determined how much Pacquiao will get as a guarantee in the planned fourth fight after being assured of $22 million in this rubber match.
Marquez will lobby for a bigger purse in this proposed fourth showdown after being guaranteed $5 million.
Arum said everything will go through proper negotiations.
In the Caraga Region, major thoroughfares and streets in Butuan City and the rest of the five cities and five provinces in Northeastern Mindanao remained at a standstill – practically no movement until late lunchtime on Sunday.
“Zero crime, clean, and no blotter report before, during and after Manny fight,” said a duty police officer of Police Regional Office 13 on Sunday.
In that short span of time, the region’s peacekeepers would be doing nothing as crimes in the Caraga Region are expected to drop to zero.
It was also observed that the government security forces, and even the rebels, both laid their arms down, and peace, no matter how short, will prevailed over the strife-torn areas in Mindanao.
In Marikina City, the Freedom Park and the Parang Playground Basketball were filled to watch the much-awaited Pacquiao-Marquez fight.
At the police headquarters, no untoward incident was reported as policemen said this is just a normal scenario every time Pacquiao has a fight.
“Kung maari nga lang, araw-araw may laban para walang krimen,” said a junior policeman who was also busy watching the fight at the Freedom Park.
The city government of Marikina has set up venues for the live telecast via satellite one at the Freedom Park and at the Parang Playground.
Traffic was also light in the said areas. (With reports from AP, Genalyn D. Kabiling, Mike U. Crismundo, and Madelynne Dominguez)

Bradley eyes Pacman in 2012
LAS VEGAS — There’s going to be one guy on Saturday night who will try to steal the thunder from the main event fighters.
Tim Bradley, the current world super-lightweight champion, is making an appearance in the undercard of the Manny Pacquiao-Juan Manuel Marquez rubber match at the MGM Grand.
Bradley is yearning for recognition the way other high-profile fighters have and a smashing victory against Cuban Joel Casamayor is a major stepping stone in his quest for stardom.
Top Rank had actually signed up Bradley to a promotional contract only a few months ago and it was seen by ringsiders as a move to possibly pit him against Pacquiao in the future.
Although the main goal next year for Top Rank is to get a deal for a Pacquiao fight with Floyd Mayweather, Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum is wise in signing up Bradley.
In the event a Mayweather bout can’t be done, Top Rank will have an option.
But for Bradley to be considered as a Pacquiao foe, he has to win big against Casamayor so it would be easier for Arum to sell it to fight fans.
Bradley, 28, is also doing his part in marketing himself, telling a group of reporters on Thursday that he is willing to take on anybody.
“I have no fear of Pacquiao,” said Bradley, who has a 27-0 record with 11 knockouts.

Pacquiao revels as Mexican nemesis
LAS VEGAS — Manny Pacquiao, who meets Juan Manuel Marquez for the third time, has beaten up so many marvelous fighters from Mexico that he has become that prizefighting-crazy country’s most popular boxer.
And the most wanted as well.
Through the years, Pacquiao has engaged a total of 13 fights with nine Mexican punchers, winning 11, losing just once and drawing once.
The 11 victories were against Erik Morales (twice), Marco Antonio Barrera (twice), Antonio Margarito, Hector Velazquez, Oscar Larios, Jorge Solis, Gabriel Mira and Marquez.
Pacquiao’s lone loss was against Morales in their first fight in March 2005 – which he later avenged in devastating manner – while the lone draw was against Marquez in 2004.
Mexican boxing scribe Salvador Rodriguez said Pacquiao will very likely extend his winning streak Saturday night. “Marquez is already 38 years old and they are fighting at welterweight, which is heavy for Marquez,” said Rodriguez.
Rodriguez said he even did a survey among fight fans in Mexico and 80 percent of those he asked predicted that Pacquiao would run over Marquez.
Still, Rodriguez said that while Pacquiao is well-loved by Mexicans, they want Marquez to pull off a major upset.
“Pacquiao has been beating our fighters and we’d want Marquez to end the losses.”
Actually, Pacquiao has also beaten two other Mexican fighters: Oscar De La Hoya and David Diaz.
The parents of both De La Hoya and Diaz, who speak fluent Spanish, are Mexicans but they were born and grew up in the US.
Pacquiao sent De La Hoya into retirement after stopping the Golden Boy in Dec. 2008, while Diaz got flattened in nine rounds six months before Pacquiao mauled De La Hoya.

Day of reckoning
LAS VEGAS — Manny Pacquiao wants to make his fans happy and that spells bad news for Juan Manuel Marquez.
Pacquiao (53-3-2 38 KOs) and Marquez (52-5-1 38 KOs) face off for the third time Saturday (Sunday in Manila) in a fight that is bound to become a classic, a virtual continuation of their 24-round saga that compelled Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum to pit them together again.
Pacquiao is aiming to put a closure to their storied rivalry by putting an exclamation point when they take center stage at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, where more than 16,000 fans will converge to witness the collision of the bitter rivals.
“I don’t’ want to disappoint the fans,” Pacquiao told the crowd of about 5,000 after weighing in at 143 lbs.
Reading between the lines, what the 32-year-old Pacquiao meant was he would do his best to put on a show of force, a performance so overpowering fight fans will no longer beg for a fourth fight.
Marquez is craving for a win so a decisive and lucrative fourth fight can be made possibly in May 2012.
Drawing strength from his own set of boisterous followers, the 38-year-old Marquez acknowledges the fact that he will be in for another rough night at the hands of a fighter universally recognized as the best in the world pound-for-pound.
“This is the most important fight of my career. I want to beat the man who is considered the best pound-for-pound in the world,” said Marquez, whose first fight with Pacquiao in 2004 ended on a draw and the second going Pacquiao’s way on a split decision in 2008.
“This time, I need to win every round and win each round convincingly,” said Marquez, who weighed in at 142 lbs but looked more massive with his bulging muscles and an enviable six-pack.
After losing in 2008, Marquez continued to fight in an effort to secure a third fight with Pacquiao, winning mostly against topnotch lightweights but faring badly against Floyd Mayweather in 2009 when he tried his luck at welterweight.
But with the acquisition of a conditioning coach and a nutritionist, Marquez is very eager to strut his stuff and prove to everyone that he, indeed, has Pacquiao’s number.
“For me, this fight is about pride, about dignity. Everyone knows I got robbed in the first two fights,” said Marquez, insisting that he won their previous meetings but didn’t get the decision.
The first time they rumbled, Pacquiao floored Marquez thrice in the first round but Marquez adjusted immediately and survived the early onslaught en route to an action-packed draw.
In the rematch, Pacquiao leaned on a third-round knockdown to emerge victorious in another thriller.
Such is bound to happen again in this third tussle, Marquez said.
“I am going to fight him toe-to-toe and give the people what they want. Like a true Mexican warrior, I will match Pacquiao punch-by-punch to get the victory.”
Pacquiao is guaranteed $22 million, while Marquez will get his biggest paycheck of $5 million. Both fighters are also entitled cuts in the pay-per-view, closed-circuit, and gate receipts.
Kenny Bayless will be the referee, while the three judges are Dave Moretti, Glenn Trowbridge, and Robert Hoyle.
In MalacaƱang, Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte said congressmen are free to watch their colleague, Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao, battle Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez in Las Vegas Sunday.
As Filipinos are eager to watch the fight, no live telecast will be allowed in churches.
Retired Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Oscar Cruz, in an interview, said local bishops need not issue an order prohibiting parishes to air the boxing match convinced that parish officials already know what is proper.
Cruz said there is no need for parishes to show the fight since other entities are already doing it.
The city government of Manila will provide free live telecast of Pacquiao’s fight in covered courts in the city. It will be shown at the Delpan Sports Complex (near North Harbor) District 1; Patricia Sports Complex (Flora Street, Gagalangin, Tondo) District 2; Rasac Covered Court (Alvarez Street corner Rizal Avenue) District 3; Dapitan Sports Complex (Instruccion Street, Sampaloc) District 4; San Andres Sports Complex (San Andres Street, Malate) District 5; and Teresa Covered Court (Teresa Street, Sta. Mesa) District 6.
The Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Philippine National Police, and the Philippine Coast Guard are also preparing their respective facilities to show the Pacquiao bout to their personnel and their families for free. Pacquiao vs Marquez 3 Referee and Judges Named
The veterans Glenn Trowbridge, Dave Moretti and Robert Hoyle will be the three judges scoring the Pacquiao vs Marquez 3 fight.

Weeks were also the referee of the Pacquiao vs De La Hoya back in December 2008, aside from that he's also refereed four other major fights for Saturday's main event: Pacquiao vs Barrera II, Mayweather vs Marquez, Casamayor vs Marquez, and Marquez vs Salido.

Pacquiao more dangerous now
LOS ANGELES — If Juan Manuel Marquez thinks he has boxing icon Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao all figured out, he is terribly mistaken, the Filipino pound-for-pound king said on Wednesday.
Coupled with the changes he has gone through since the last time they fought in March 2008, Pacquiao said “I am more dangerous now.”
“I think I am a lot better now,” said Pacquiao ten days before he faces Marquez at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
According to Pacquiao, it is him – and not the Mexican counter-puncher –who has drastically improved through the years and proof of this will be on showcase next week in front of a capacity crowd numbering more than 16,000.
“My power has made a big difference. It’s going to be different when he steps in the ring with me,” he said.
Pacquiao boasted that he has perfected the game plan to make the 38-year-old Marquez not only look bad but show that he is the better fighter.
“We know his weaknesses but we won’t tell you what they are,” he added.
Pacquiao, who turns 33 on December 17, narrowly beat Marquez on a split decision more than three years ago after battling him to a draw in May 2004.
Since making his United States (US) debut in June 2001, Pacquiao has fought 20 times, winning 17, losing just once and drawing twice.
Pacquiao’s two clashes with Marquez remain as the most bitterly fought apart in his storied career not counting his only defeat on US shores – against Erik Morales – in March 2005.
Apart from Morales, nobody has come close to beating Pacquiao than Marquez, whose counter-punching style and ring generalship made Pacquiao looked bad in their combined 24-round slugfest.
Despite the controversial ending of their first two matches, Pacquiao is an 8-1 favorite to settle the score with Marquez.
On fire
Meanwhile, trainer Freddie Roach said Pacquiao has never looked so motivated as he has in training to fight Juan Manuel Marquez next week and silence the Mexican fighter’s taunts.
With one point on one judge’s scorecard all that has separated the fighters through 24 rounds, Marquez has long argued he beat Pacquiao twice, even wearing a shirt that said, “I beat Pacquiao twice” to a pre-fight appearance in Manila.
“He’s claiming he was robbed in the last two fights. This third fight will be the answer to all of that,” Pacquiao said Wednesday.
A photograph of Marquez adorns a wall behind the punching bag at the Los Angeles-area gymnasium where Pacquiao works out, a constant reminder and motivating force for the Sarangani congressman.
“I’ve never seen him as motivated as I have for this fight,” Roach said. “Marquez went to the Philippines and embarrassed him, said a few things. That has pushed him to work harder in training camp.
“Manny Pacquiao is on fire right now. He’s training very well. He has a little spark.”(With a report from AFP)

Pacquiao vs. Marquez countdown
Less Than 10 Days Until Pacquiao vs Marquez
In what might be the most eagerly awaited fight of 2011, Manny Pacquiao (53-3-2) will defend his WBO welterweight title against Juan Manuel Marquez (53-5-1), in just 10 days, at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Nov. 12, in what should be the final installment of their classic battles.
The trilogy began in 2004 when the bout ended in a draw, and continued in 2008, with Pacquiao winning in a split decision. Neither fighter gave a convincing performance, so this time around, both have a score to settle.
Pacquiao goes into the fight as a 7.5-to-1 favorite over Marquez, and the Filipino icon has been the clear winner in all seven of his bouts since his last battle with Marquez.
On the other side, Marquez has won his last three fights, but it wasn't against elite competition. Likar Ramos, Michael Katsidis, and Juan Diaz are not considered amongst the best pound-for-pound boxers, and Pacquiao probably owns that title.
A natural lightweight, Marquez goes into the fight with added bulk, as footage has shown the 38-year-old's training regimen in Mexico has produced an impressive physique to reach the 144-pound catch weight. However, Alex Ariza, Pacquiao's strength and conditioning coach, believes Marquez's ripped body would hurt the Mexican star.
"Muscles don't win fights," said Ariza.
Still, Marquez goes into the fight with a great deal of confidence, and the shirt he wore around the Philippines that read "Marquez beat Pacquiao twice!" probably means he's taking this fight very seriously.
"The people will see another war," said Marquez. "The people will see another great fight because I prepared myself very hard. I look for the victory."
"I'll have the greatest career as soon as I beat him," he said.
While Ariza believes muscles don't win fights, his boxer has been training at such a high pace that Pacquiao is being cautioned to not over-train. It is very clear that Pacquiao has a great deal of interest in maintaining his reputation as the best boxer in the world, and feels his bouts with Marquez are blemishes on his record.
Unlike his last fight, against Sugar Shane Mosely, Pacquiao goes into the fight with extra motivation. He wants to prove that he is a better boxer than he was in 2004 and 2008, and by punishing Marquez it will send the message that he is deserving of all the praise that he has generated.
The mild-mannered Pacquiao has not been doing much talking, but his camp has.
"I've never seen him as motivated as I have for this fight," said Freddie Roach, Pacquiao's famed trainer, according to AFP. "Marquez went to the Philippines and embarrassed him, said a few things. That has pushed him to work harder in training camp.
"Manny Pacquiao is on fire right now. He's training very well. He has a little spark."
Ariza predicted a knockout that would "be earlier than you think," and claims that Pacquiao is a more complete fighter now with "much more speed, power, and explosiveness."
Pacquiao and Mayweather go into the fight with similar measurements. Pacquiao, 32, is 5'6.5 with a 67-inch reach. Marquez is six years older, and is 5'7 and also has a 67-inch reach. Pacquiao, however, fights in a southpaw stance, while Marquez fights in an orthodox stance.
The elephant in the room is Floyd Mayweather, Jr. The WBC welterweight champion thoroughly dominated his Sept. 2009 bout with Marquez, and the major payday with Pacquiao is still a major possibility despite what many detractors say.

Conte Says JMM Is Working With Steroids Dealer
JM Marquez is working w/ admitted steroid dealer Angel "Memo" Heredia (Hernandez on 24/7). Heredia testfied he supplied PEDs to Marion JonesHe later noted that Heredia was a "star witness" for the government:
Angel Heredia was the star witness for Novitzky and the government against many athletes. He got no time in return..A New York Times article from 2008 sheds a bit more light on the subject:
Angel Guillermo Heredia is identified as Source A in the felony indictment. He agreed to be a cooperating witness three years ago when, according to court filings, investigators confronted him with evidence of his drug trafficking and money laundering. Since then, Mr. Heredia said, he has provided prosecutors with documentation and with the names of many elite track athletes and Olympic medal winners. And so the plot thickens a little bit for Pacquiao vs Marquez. I don't think you have to "trust" or "believe in" Victor Conte to see that Marquez working with Heredia doesn't look good, and particularly because Heredia is trying to hide his identity to some degree.

Manny Pacquiao motivated for Marquez fight…
(ThyBlackMan.com) After fighting Juan Manuel Marquez (53-5-1, 39 KO’s) twice previously and looking to have lost both of those fights, Manny Pacquiao (53-3-2, 38 KO’s) is in need of special help for him to try and finally beat the now 38-year-old Marquez on November 12th. Freddie Roach, Pacquiao’s long-time trainer, has resorted to tricks now to try and get Manny Pacquiao to another level to where he can summon up enough will power to get past the tough Mexican.
“When Manny Pacquiao hits the speed bag I put a picture of him [Marquez] wearing that t-shirt, just to remind Manny. I said to Manny Pacquiao, ‘You don’t like this guy, do you?’ He just smiled and walked away. He will not answer me.”
Let me analyze this. Manny Pacquiao is probably not saying anything because he doesn’t want tip his hand how much he burns inside about having been beaten in the two previous fights. And he likely doesn’t want Roach to know because if he gets battered again Marquez and loses, Manny Pacquiao will lose face in front of his trainer. It’s better to keep quiet and mask your true emotions then to let your trainer know how bothered you were by the two previous fights and then put yourself into a situation where you have even more pressure on you. But doesn’t Roach seem more than a little desperate in seeking any trick possible to try and get Manny Pacquiao to beat Marquez finally? How sad.
Roach says “He’s [ Manny Pacquiao ] really extra motivated in this fight. He’s been a little harder on his sparring partners than usual.”
Of course Manny Pacquiao is. He’s clearly worried. He already got punched around twice before by Marquez, and he doesn’t want to get dominated again by him, especially with Marquez nearing his 40th birthday. You know how bad that’ll make Manny Pacquiao if he loses to a fighter that old? It’ll erase all the titles that Manny Pacquiao has collected, some of them catchweight jobs, against a litter of opponents. It’ll make those wins look worthless, like collecting stamps without any value.

You can't call it a brave -heart when you did your best at the two fights but still lost, and thencame third fight losing.JMM should let it rest, after the 2 fights at least he would be remembered as the one close of beating Pacquiao. Now he would be remmbered as the the most idiot boxer in the history of boxing, member Pac's word ?"This time I will give JMM his due"
From mandirigma1990
Marquez wanted the third fight badly to get the revenge...because this round is his nightmare for the rest of his life in his boxing carreer. Marquez is a good boxer but he can't just accept that there is someone better than him(1st and 2nd fight for Pacquiao even though one idiot judge mistakenly judge as 10-7 instead of 10-6, 3 KO + 1 Pacquiao is ahead in the scorecards. After this thrid fight, Marquez would be the laughing stack in the boxing world cause he asked for food he cnt chew.

Roach: Pacquiao can retire after two fights
If Pacquiao will follow what Freddie Roach say that he can retire after two major fights will Pacquiao follow it? For me its better to leave the ring while he is still famous and while he is still the pound by pound king. He already proven himself on how great he box in the ring and now i think its time for him to face new challenges in his life. I hope that after the Pacquiao vs Marquez 3 fight, Mayweather decides to fight Pacquaio before he quits boxing or else the boxing fans will surely miss the chance to see the fight that they are waiting for.
Here are a short list of what he can do when the time comes and he decides to leave the boxing ring.
1. Pacquiao can focus on his political career since his constituents needs him.
2. Continue his acting career or become a TV personality.
3. He can run in congress or represent sports or athletes in the goverment.
4. Produce a movie.
5. Be a businessman.
6. Be a boxing coach.
7. Find a new boxing protege and train him personally.
8. Hopefully he will doesnt have any plans in making a new album.

Freddie Roach, Manny Pacquiao's celebrated trainer, wants his ward to have two major fights before gladly seeing off the reigning World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight champion to finally retire from the sport.
One of the planned two bouts will take place two months from now, a third fight opposite Mexican rival Juan Manuel Marquez on November 12. The other, maybe in 2012 or in 2013.
"I'd this fight (Marquez)," proclaimed Roach as he finally joined Pacquiao and the rest of the gang at the Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers in New York for the second leg of the four-city press tour promoting the 12-round showdown for the WBO 147-pound strap.
The other marquee bout of course, a face-off between the reigning and former holders of the pound-for-pound title, is the one the whole world obviously wants to see.
"And I'd like that fight (Floyd Mayweather) be done," Roach quickly added. "That would be the icing on the cake. I don't think there would be anything else to prove."
While a third Pacquiao-Marquez face-off remains quite intriguing given the controversial outcome of their first two encounters, a fight between the Filipino ring icon and the unbeaten Mayweather remains the match-up being anticipated by everyone else.
No wonder that even in the presence of Marquez, both Pacquiao and Roach had to answer questions from the media present during the occasion about the possibility of the fighting congressman from Sarangani province facing the brash-talking Mayweather.
"I want to see that fight as badly as all of you, because he's (Mayweather) a challenge and I love a challenge," Roach told reporters.
Pacquiao, 32, believes the fight expected to go down as the richest in boxing's history will definitely happen, considering the recent developments within the camp of Mayweather, who will challenge the dangerous Victor Ortiz for the World Boxing Council (WBC) welterweight title on September 17.
Like Pacquiao, Ortiz is also a southpaw.
"I'm thinking right now that Floyd is preparing for our battle because he's got a southpaw opponent for his next fight," said Pacquiao, who opened the press conference by belting the 70s hit remake 'Sometimes When We Touch' in a duet with Grammy-award winner Dan Hill.
"Maybe it will come. I'd give it a possibility."
But first, Pacquiao needs to settle his unfinished business with Marrquez, the man who had been the biggest puzzle in the Filipino southpaw's brilliant career (53-3-2, 38 knockouts).
No problem with that, according to Roach.
"We have to be a little smarter. We can't walk in recklessly," said Roach in giving respect to the talent of the 38-year-old challenger (53-5-1, 39 KOs).
"But we’ll knock him out somewhere along the way," added Pacquiao's long-time trainer. — JVP, GMA News
Pacquiao wants Philippine vice presidency
MANILA - World boxing champion Manny Pacquiao has announced he wants to retire from the sport and run for vice president of the Philippines in five years’ time, local media reported Friday.
“In 2016, I plan to run for vice president. By that time there will be no more boxing for me,” the 32-year-old said in an interview with Manila’s GMA television from Mexico.
The high-school dropout, who is often cited as the world’s best “pound-for-pound” fighter, is already a member of the Philippine parliament and has long been touted as a potential leader of his country.
But political observers immediately pointed out it was constitutionally impossible for him to run for vice president in 2016.
He will be just 37 years old when the May 2016 elections are held, below the minimum age requirement of 40 set in the country’s constitution.
“If the constitution has not been amended by then he might have a problem,” James Jimenez, spokesman for the government Commission on Elections, told AFP.
“But you can’t tell someone not to dream.”
Pacquiao won a seat in the Philippine House of Representatives in May last year, representing the impoverished southern province of Sarangani.
GMA network said it interviewed Pacquiao in Mexico, where he is promoting his World Boxing Organisation welterweight title bout against Mexico’s Manuel Marquez in Las Vegas on November 12.
Pacquiao has compiled a 53-3 win-loss record with two draws on his way to 10 world titles in an unprecedented eight weight divisions.

HBO to aggressively promote Pacquiao-Marquez III
MANILA, Philippines – HBO plans to use the various assets of Time Warner in promoting the trilogy bout between pound-for-pound king Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao and Mexican warrior Juan Manuel "El Dinamita" Marquez.
In the New York leg of the Pacquiao-Marquez global media tour, streamed live by TopRank.com, HBO Pay-Per-View division head Mark Taffet announced that they will be promoting the fight across various platforms.
"We will unleash a very comprehensive, cross-promotional and advertising line-up, utilizing powerful and broad reaching assets across Time Warner," Taffet said.
Time Warner is the parent network of HBO.
According to Taffet, Pacquiao-Marquez III will be promoted through CNN, TBS, TNT, Sports Illustrated and People, as well as through the digital outlets of TIME.com, SI.com and CNNMoney.com.
"Additionally, fight-related programming will regularly appear on the HBO Network, HBO Go, HBO On Demand, and HBO.com," Taffet said.
24/7 series
As part of the build-up to the Pacquiao-Marquez November 12 match, HBO will also feature the 2 fighters in 4 episodes of the award-winning reality show, "24/7."
24/7: Pacquiao-Marquez will premiere on October 22.
Taffet also announced that Pacquiao and Marquez will be guesting on an episode of Face Off with Max Kellerman.
"It will be a special edition when Max Kellerman sits between Manny and Juan Manuel, in that close setting for what will be a highly contested discussion about their first 2 memorable bouts," Taffet said.
The first 2 bouts of Pacquiao and Marquez both ended in controversial decisions. In their first meeting in 2004, Pacquiao settled for a draw despite knocking down Marquez three times in the first round.
In their 2008 rematch, Pacquiao was awarded a close split decision victory, thanks in part to his 3rd round knockdown of Marquez.
Showtime and CBS
This fight with Marquez marks Pacquiao's comeback to HBO after Pacquiao's May 7 fight against Shane Mosley was produced and distributed by Showtime and its parent network, CBS.
That fight, won by Pacquiao via unanimous decision, gave the Filipino champ the highest pay-per-view numbers of his career as Showtime used CBS assets to promote the fight, giving it a wider audience.
"Last spring, we decided that boxing needed to go into another dimension, and needed to have a greater appeal. We made a deal with Showtime-CBS, which did a magnificent job for us getting the message of the fight to an ever wide audience," Top Rank boss Bob Arum said during the press conference.
Arum’s decision to bring the Pacquiao-Mosley fight to Showtime-CBS was a major blow to HBO, with some boxing reporters saying that it led to resignation of long-time HBO Sports President Ross Greenburg last July.
"When it came to picking a distributor for this fight, we had the choice to make of who we would go with," Arum said.
Arum said that they would've gone back to Showtime and CBS, but senior executives of HBO convinced him otherwise.
"Richard Plepler and Michael Lombardo met with Todd duBoef (Top Rank President) and myself on numerous occasions and told us what HBO and Time Warner could offer us," Arum explained.
Plepler and Lombardo convinced Arum that they could "help us move to yet a higher dimension in selling this fight."
Prior to this fight, HBO has never offered to use Time Warner’s extensive assets to promote a boxing match, something Arum pointed out in the press conference.
"Up to that point, this wasn't possible. There was no effort made to get that message out to the wider public audience," he said.
With the more aggressive promotion of the bout, Pacquiao may be able to top the pay-per-view numbers generated by his match against Mosley.
According to Taffet, Pacquiao has generated 8.6 million buys in his 14 pay-per-view bouts, along with $451-million in pay-per-view revenue.

Pacquiao won't KO JMM, says Floyd's trainer
MANILA, Philippines – Floyd Mayweather’s trainer and uncle, Roger Mayweather, believes Manny Pacquiao won’t be able to knock out Juan Manuel Marquez.
Roger, who is preparing Floyd for the September 17 fight against Victor Ortiz, said that if Pacquiao could stop Marquez, he should have done that a long time ago.
“They fought two close fights the first time and I believe the fight will be close the third time. I can’t see him stopping Marquez,” Roger said in Examiner.com.
Pacquiao and Marquez figured in two controversial boxing matches.
In 2004, both fighters went home empty-handed with a controversial draw.
Four years later, Pacquiao edged Marquez with a split decision by a margin of 1 point.
Roger, however, admitted that he expects an epic clash between the two warriors on November 12.
“I can’t see nothing but another classic fight between the two and I don’t believe Marquez will get stopped,” he said.

Pacquiao has best jab – Roach
TOLUCA, Mexico — Manny Pacquiao simply can’t wait to get his hands on Juan Manuel Marquez.
As the private jet was getting ready to leave for Los Angeles on Thursday, Pacquiao and Roach caught each other’s eyes inside the cabin and the Filipino could not help but bring up the topic of how he intends to take out Marquez when they battle for the third time on Nov. 12 in Las Vegas.
Pacquiao, dressed in a long-sleeve shirt with matching tie and slacks, put on a fighting stance, whispered something in Roach’s ear that forced the trainer to respond even as the boxer continued to keep his hands up.
If only there was enough space inside the 12-seater, Pacquiao would have shadow-boxed but he was nonetheless all juiced up that he threw a right and a left in the air, his face a picture of devilish aggression.
After a few moments, Pacquiao walked towards the direction of two scribes who were observing all the proceedings.
Roach followed.
“He has got the best right jab but he doesn’t use it,” said Roach.
Pacquiao was unresponsive and Roach told him he has to use it against Marquez.
“You know why I know you’ve got the best jab,” asked Roach.
Pacquiao just stared.
“It’s because I am the one who feels it (during training camp),” said Roach.
“You could knock him down even with that (right) jab.”
Pacquiao nodded and raised his hands anew and let loose a two-punch combo, the swishing sound cutting through the air as the other passengers began settling in their seats.
Bob Arum took a seat near the exit, fronting Pacquiao’s Canadian adviser Mike Koncz, while Roach sat adjacent to the Hall of Fame promoter as the engine began to rev.
The flight attendant then started asking the passengers if they like something to drink while Pacquiao lawyer Franklin Gacal and the fighter’s assistant Roger Fernandez took the back seats to prepare for the three-and-a-half-hour trip.
Pacquiao stayed for a few moments with the two scribes on board, exchanging anecdotes and sharing a laugh as the four-city press tour finally concluded with the fourth and final stop in Mexico City.
Before taking his seat, Pacquiao uttered one telling statement.
“This time, there’ll be no controversy.”

Pacquiao Nice Guy no more
This is new. We've known Manny Pacquaio as very nice guy even with his fellow boxers. But Juan Manuel Marquez must have hit a nerve somewhere since its obvious that the two is not so friendly at all especially in the New York press conference. I think that Manny Pacquiao has every right to feel this way and its not so often that we see
Manny Pacquiao reacted this way towards another boxer. Pacquiao vs Marquez 3 will surely be a fight to look forward to. For sure all those bottled emotions and issues on who is better fighter between Pacquiao and Marquez will be settled once they stepped in to that ring.
LOS ANGELES — They’ve been telling the public that they’re friends and there’s nothing personal between them.
But there’s a feeling of revulsion whenever Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez are within spitting distance of each other as evidenced by their actions in Manila and New York and here on Tuesday during the dizzying four-city press tour promoting their Nov. 12 trilogy.
The last few times he has fought, Pacquiao has been very friendly with his foes to the extent that he has been oftentimes criticized for being too nice to them.
Pacquiao horsed around with Ricky Hatton during a darts exhibition match in Manchester, posed for pictures with Miguel Cotto’s kids in Puerto Rico, burst into laughter during a staredown with Joshua Clottey in Dallas and smiled a lot and shook hands frequently with Shane Mosley in Las Vegas.
But with Marquez, the feeling is not all too the same and the sentiment is that the lid will blow over when they let loose their furious fists at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas in two months time.
One could easily count the times when Pacquiao and Marquez shook hands and during their third face-off at the Beverly Hills Hotel, they only got to shake hands once and they did it without even looking each other in the eye.
“They never did (break into laughter),” acknowledged trainer Freddie Roach.
Pacquiao looked stern and didn’t break a smile when he was requested by the photographers for the customary staredown, unlike during the buildup to the Clottey and Mosley bouts when it took only a fraction of a second before he erupted in laughter.
In the Philippines over the weekend, Marquez regaled the media, saying that while he remains bitter over the result of their first two fights, he has grown to respect the man many regard as worthy of being mentioned in the same breath as Joe Louis and Muhammad Ali.
From what they have exhibited the last couple of days, Marquez and Pacquiao have been frugal in showering each other with praises and it remains to be seen whether Marquez will revert back to being a diplomat when the tour makes its fourth and last stop in Mexico City on Thursday.
The last time Pacquiao acted unreceptive was against the brash Erik Morales and that was five years ago.
That feeling of hatred is back again, said Pacquiao lawyer Franklin Gacal, who has been told many times by the pound-for-pound king about his animosity towards Marquez.
“Galit siya kay Marquez,” said Gacal on board a private plane that took Team Pacquiao to Toluca, Mexico, late Wednesday night. “Nanggigigil siya.”

Arum, Barrera Blown Away By Pacquiao-Marquez Crowd
MEXICO CITY--Some of those windbags and layabouts who "serve" the American people in Washington like to prattle on and on about "reaching across the aisle" seeking viable compromises with the opposing party.
From what I saw and heard today, the Congressman from Sarangani named Manny Pacquiao could teach Democrats, Republicans and maybe even staunch Tea Party types how to effectively work with those with a different perspective.
Pacman, you see, had most of the guesstimated 30,000 Mexcian fight fans--young and old, male and female--who combined for a massive wall of people across and around historic Revolution Square eating out of his Filipino hands.
Fresh from a morning visit to the Mexican Congress, where he was hailed and mobbed by fellow legislators, Pacquiao said just the right thing in front of his Nov. 12 "Chapter Three" PPV TV fight opponent Juan Manuel Marquez and all his countrymen.
Pacquiao did not avoid a reference to his old unofficial nickname as "the Mexican Assassin" (earned by beating legends Erik Morales and Marco Antonio Barrera and others and including his points victory and draw against Juan Ma). Instead, he handled it diplomatically.
Resplendent in a gray suit, blue shirt, red tie and wearing a flashy diamond in his left ear, Pacquiao said in Spanish, "I didn't want to fight another Mexican boxer, it just happened and I am just and only doing my job."
Pacman laughed and the crowd inside a tent where a post-rally press conference was held did as well.
Later, in the semi-privacy of the third floor lounge at the swanky St. Regis Hotel, just before a helicopter took the Pinoy Idol and his entrourage to Azteca TV network studios so he could sing a song for the company which has the Mexican broadcast rights to the big fight, Pacquiao said he was overhwelmed by the positive reception he got here.
"I am very surprised and very happy about this reception," Pacquiao said as the four city (Manila, New York and Beverly Hills came first) media tour was winding down.
An enthusiastic but exhausted Bob Arum said the big turnout here gave the promotion huge momentum.
He even told Pacquiao that he's getting recieved on foreign visits like Muhammad Ali did.
"It's like Muhammad Ali for Manny now," Arum said. "It's the same thing I saw happen when Ali left America. "I mean, we expected 8,000 people or so. We could have gotten 3,000 but we got 30,000.
"It's like when we took Ali to Ireland, Malaysia, to Indonesia and to the Philippines. I remember once we brought Ali here to Mexico, when he wasn't fighting, and we almost had a riot. I think this fight will do huge numbers on pay per view."
It reminded me of when I stood with Don King in the parking lot of Estadio Azteca as "El Gran Campeon" Julio Cesar Chavez prepped for a free public workout. Many thousands of people came from all over this massive metropolis to see their greatest sports hero and legend.
Suddenly, a helicopter came out of the sky, armed police and security forces jumped to combat readiness and the then president of Mexico emerged.
He had come, the president explained, to check on Chavez's vaunted left hook. If you recall, Chavez then drew boxing alltime biggest crowd, 136,000 people to the stadium to see him pummel gamester Greg Haugen.
I spoke to Hall Of Famer Barrera, now a manager-promoted now celebrating his first world champion (WBO 105 pound champ Moises Fuentes, a Chilango from this city) about how wildly Pacquiao was recieved.
"Yes," Barrera said, "I was surprised. I was very surprised at how the Mexican people treated Manny but he is very charismatic and very humble and they like that."
WBO President Francisco "Paco" Valcarcel, extremely happy to have Pacman as one of its reigning and defending beltholders, reached way back for a comparison.
"For me, I see Pacquiao as being as charismatic as Sugar Ray Robinson," the Puerto Rican attorney said. "I think Manny wins people over when they see him fighting and beating such tough guys, such good punchers, as Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito. Those two guys hit so hard, Manny took some hard shots from both and yet he beat them both."
Top Rank's Tijuana-based collaborator Fernando Beltran said he had a crew of 300 people setting up the event. Beltran handles Marquez.
"We had all 300 working to set up the stage, the boxing ring, the confetti and the music and dancing girls, all of that," Beltran said. "It was so much worth it. I was glad because Pacquiao and his team were such great hosts to us in the Phillipines so we wanted to do the same for them."
On this afternoon, in the Mexican sunshine, the winner was boxing.

GMA airs Pacquiao-Marquez III fight, world press tour
I was able to catch this last Saturday. GMA Network did a great job in promoting Pacquiao vs Marquez 3 fight but what i didnt like about it is the questions they asked to Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez when the two finally went on stage for the question and answer portion of the program. Plus Chino Trinidad failed to fully translate to Juan Manuel Marquez everything. There was a time when everyone was laughing because of Pacquiao's answer to Arnold Clavio's question and Marquez have to ask Chino what's happening or why was everyone is laughing... Anyway, I think it was a great event to kick off the Pacquiao vs Marquez 3 fight which will happen on November 12.
MANILA, Philippines - Tomorrow, Sept. 3, GMA Network ushers Pinoy boxing fans to the prelude of the third face-off between Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez.

Pacquiao, dubbed as the “greatest fighter of all time,” battles with Marquez again after a draw in their first duel in 2004, and a tight split decision that favored him in their second match in 2008 — to hopefully put a close to their “unfinished business.”
GMA 7 prepared a grand line-up of festivities at the Quirino Grandstand in a special on-ground event to be hosted by Dingdong Dantes, with La Diva singing the Philippine national anthem, while the UST singers performing the Mexican national anthem.

GMA Network to air Pacquiao-Marquez fight
Since Pacquiao is already with GMA Network (which i think costed them a lot of money to keep him in their network), GMA Network already acquired the rights to broadcast the Pacquiao-Marquez match. I dont have anything against with the deal, in fact I support and like it much. Why? Because our TV's reception is very in tune with GMA. I dont know if its because of better signal or we have a nearby antenna but I noticed that not only the TV in our home has better reception of GMA but also in my brother's home. Anyway, it's really great that GMA already acquired the rights to broadcast the fight because better reception means better quality and for most of us who will watch the fight in our TV boxes then it means better quality and clearer program to watch.
If any of my family will not invite me to watch the fight in the mall or in one of those free to watch Pacquiao vs Marquez 3 live stream then I will stock on popcorn and fruit soda and my comfy chair to watch the Pacquiao vs Marquez 3 fight! Read the rest of the news below.

Hectic schedule ‘fells’ Manny Pacquiao; Juan Manuel Marquez grateful
This is new, we;ve always know Pacquiao as a devout Catholic and always punctual in his schedules and appointments. Ok, he was late for the mass but I wonder why Pacquiao was late also in the press conference for Pacquiao vs Marquez 3 match. If he cant keep up with all the schedules he has then I think it would be best for him to drop some of his projects like one of his current show in GMA 7 since taping for shows usually eats celebrity time. Now that he will start his training, what will happen in his post in government? I hope that he will not neglect his role as a politician since he will be really busy training and promoting his fight against Marquez.
With his hectic schedule, Manny Pacquiao missed a Concelebrated Mass for the pound-for-pound king and old rival Juan Manuel Marquez on the final day of the Manila media tour kickoff Sunday.
The Mass, scheduled at the Manila Cathedral, was delayed for at least 15 minutes and proceeded with only Marquez present.
The Mexican champion, who waged two intense and controversial battles with Pacquiao, was given a tour of the cathedral after he arrived early and earned the respect of the clergy.
Nobody in Team Pacquiao had any explanation for Pacquiao’s no-show. The Inquirer learned, though, that he was dead tired and overslept after a hectic day and night schedule the previous day.
Pacquiao’s adviser Michael Koncz offered no explanation or comment when the Inquirer checked with him on why Pacquiao didn’t attend the Mass.
Even at the press conference, Pacquiao kept Marquez waiting for almost an hour.
Top Rank promoter Bob Arum also shrugged and refused to make any comment on Pacquiao’s hectic schedule.
But Arum said he would be back in Baguio City after the training camp gets under way on Sept. 18 at the earliest when trainer Freddie Roach and strength and conditioning coach Alex Ariza are scheduled to arrive to check on Pacquiao’s condition.
Prior to leaving for New York on Sunday night, Arum said Pacquiao faces a tough task in his third meeting with Marquez, adding that he expects “a similar fight as their two previous fights.”
Marquez, who left early Monday morning, was also visibly tired but smiled and waved at fans when he left the Manila Hotel. At the airport, he thanked the Filipino people for their hospitality.
Talking briefly about his Nov. 12 showdown with Pacquiao, the likeable Mexican told boxingscene.com he doesn’t believe that his moving up to 144 pounds will be a problem.
“I’m working with people who are going to help me achieve a good weight and raise my speed and strength to win the fight,” Marquez said.

Marquez tells Pacquiao to train hard
Much is at stake in the Pacquiao vs. Marquez 3 match. If Juan Manuel Marquez able to defeat 8-division champion Manny Pacquiao then he will surely be known as the man who stopped the winning streak of Manny Pacquiao.
Although I find it a little too proud when Marquez said that Pacquiao needs to train hard for their coming match, I love his cheekiness which made this fight a little more interesting. But if I was Marquez, I will be the one to train very hard before facing Pacquiao in the ring since Pacman is known for training hard in all of his fights. He takes his opponent seriously and I think Marquez will be surprised how much Pacquiao have changed since their last fight.
Surely a lot of Marquez and Pacquiao fans are looking forward for this match. You should vote in our poll to see who will win between Pacquiao and Marquez.
MANILA, Philippines – Visiting Mexican boxer Juan Manuel Marquez said 8-division champion Manny Pacquiao should better be ready for their third face off on November 12.
“My message to Pacquiao, he needs to train very hard because I'm training very hard… like a warrior,” said Marquez in an interview with ABS-CBN’s Dyan Castillejo.
Showing how serious he really is in training, Marquez jogged for 45 minutes near the Quirino Grandstand shortly after his arrival in Manila.
Marquez will challenge Pacquiao for the WBO welterweight title at a 144-pound catchweight.
He said the added weight does not bother him at all.
“I feel great. I'm ready to fight at 144,” said Marquez.
The last time the two fought was in 2008 at the super featherweight division (130 lbs.).
Marquez’s manager Fernando Beltran said they hired weight experts to help the Mexican boxer maintain his speed even with added weight.
“We have in our training camp doctors and training people that we'll help him diet,” said Beltran.
Marquez also visited Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim Thursday afternoon.
Lim handed him a symbolical “Key to the City of Manila.”
"I don't know how to speak Filipino... but mahal ko kayo," he said to the delight of the Filipinos who attended the event.
At the Planet Jupiter Gym in Makati City, Pacquiao continued his training for the November 12 bout.
The Filipino boxing superstar is set to train for 10 weeks to make sure that he’ll be in 100% condition when he battles the Mexican warrior.
“Siyempre proud siya kung sakaling manalo siya. Tayo naman hindi natin papayagan ‘yun kaya tayo nag-eensayo ng mabuti,” said Pacquiao.
(Of course he’ll be one proud guy if he beats be. We’ll try not to let that happen, that is why we’re training hard.)

Pacquiao won't underestimate Marquez
Manny Pacquiao is considered as one of the greatest boxing fighter in the whole world and one of the reasons why he was able to win may fights is because no matter who is his next opponent he do not underestimate them. He prepare and condition his mind and body be able to fight in his best. Since he already fought with Juan Manuel Marquez before and he will not underestimate the Marquez power in their coming Pacquiao vs Marquez match.
The two fighters will surely train because both of them wants to prove that they are the best and much are in stake in this fight. For Marquez, it is proving that he is still the better fight against Pacquiao, for Pacquiao it is defending his straight wins and proving that he can win against his old foe Marquez.
Manny Pacquiao returns to serious training on Tuesday for his clash with Juan Manuel Marquez and has vowed not to underestimate a man he has fought before on two occasions.
Pacquiao is regarded as the best pound-for-pound fighter on the planet, although Floyd Mayweather Jnr fans may disagree, and will put his WBO welterweight title on the line on November 12.
The Filipino claimed a hard-fought win over Marquez in 2008, having battled to a draw in 2004, and is expecting his rival to be in superb shape for their clash on November 12.
"I expect the best Marquez on that night," Pacquiao told KO Boxing.com after confirming his training will begin in earnest on Tuesday.
"I've already fought twice with Marquez so I know his style. It's a hard fight. I have to train hard for this fight."

Manny “PacMan” Pacquiao Endorses CieAura
Last June I read that Manny Pacquiao is not only the world's best boxer but also happens to be one of the most richest fighter. He earned $52.5 million (P2.250 billion) last year which gave him a spot in the Fortunate 50 list of Sports Illustrated's highest-earning athletes.
The The eight-time world Filipino boxing champion is ranked fourth behind top golfers Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, and tennis star Roger Federer.
The earnings came didnt only came from the prize money from his fights but also from the endorsements that he made in 2010.
This month, CieAura hired Pacquiao to endorse their product which will surely upped his income for this year especially after successfully defending his WBO 147-lb belt opposite Sugar Shane Mosley with a 12-round one-sided decision. Just imagine how much he will be able to make this year if he also wins the Pacquiao vs Marquez match? Even if he lost the match, Pacquiao will surely be laughing all the way to the bank with the share he will be getting from the Pacquiao vs Marquez Live Stream, ticket sales, product endorsement and etc.
Here's a PR I saw about CieAura introducing Manny Pacquiao Energy Bracelet as their new product endorser.

Pacquiao cited as 'amazing young Catholic'
The world knew Manny Pacquiao as one of the best boxing fighter in the world. But aside from being the king of the ring he is also an amazing young catholic according to a Catholic website based in the United Kingdom. I think one thing that Pacquiao was able to achieve that other boxing champions wasnt able to is he was able to become a good influence not only to other boxing athletes but to every fans out there. Being included in the "10 Amazing Young Catholics" is another feather in Manny Pacquiao's cap. You often see him pray before and after his fight. He is also seen going to church especially after winning his fights and supporting pro life are only some of the reasons why he was included in the list. So before you watch him fight in Pacquiao vs Marquez 3 match read the rest of the news and get to know the other side of Manny Pacquiao and learn why he was included in the list.
MANILA, Philippines – A Roman Catholic website based in the United Kingdom has named Filipino congressman Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao as one of the "10 Amazing Young Catholics."
In an article for the Catholic Herald, Mary O'Regan placed Pacquiao at number 6 in her list of "ten young people from different walks of life who are living out their Catholic faith in extraordinary ways."
The writer notes that Pacquiao frequently acknowledges that his success inside the boxing ring are blessings from God.
"Before each boxing match, he kneels in prayer, asking for the grace that he needs to win the fight. After each bout, he organizes a Mass of thanksgiving, thanking God that neither he nor his opponent have been harmed," O'Regan writes.
She further notes that as a congressman, Pacquiao is fighting against the Reproductive Health Bill.
"He supports the Church hierarchy in its opposition to contraception and has also opposed a bill to legalize divorce," she adds.
"Manny has been pilloried by his more liberal political colleagues, but he maintains that marriage is an institution that should not be violated by lawmakers and that better marriage preparation must be provided instead," O'Regan said.
Other people on the list include Lila Rose, the founder of pro-life campaign Live Action, and Rocco Palmo, a Catholic blogger also known as the Church Whisperer.

ROACH: Mayweather should fight Pacquiao
I totally agree with Roach when he said that Mayweather should fight Pacquio. Mayweather just should how much he feared Pacquiao by demanding too much. If he just said yes, Pacquiao would be facing him instead of Pacquiao vs Marquez 3 match. Remember Pacquiao is the most sought after boxing fighter today and he brings the money in the table so i guess that it's just fair to give Pacquiao the larger share in the match income. I think the negotiation will still need a lot of talk between the two camps and hopefully we will see the Pacquaio vs Mayweather match soon but for now boxing fans are looking forward to watch Pacquiao vs Marquez 3 live stream.
Four-time trainer of the Year Freddie Roach said in one interview that both he and Manny Pacquiao want to fight Floyd Mayweather, and not just fight, they need the fight “badly”.
“We want that fight badly, we agreed to everything he asked for the last time, and nothing even happened.” Freddie Roach said. The trainer also said that he has high hopes that Mayweather meant his words when the boxer said that he absolutely wanted to fight Pacquiao.
Roach also added that Mayweather will still have to fight Victor Ortiz in September, and that fight will not be an easy on. “He is fighting Victor Ortiz and he’s a southpaw… He has to beat Ortiz first and that’s not going to be an easy task,” Roach said, adding the fact that south paws have traditionally given Mayweather some problems and aberrations.
One more thing, Ortiz will have an edge over Mayweather because the latter has not fought in a year and a half.
“The gym is the gym and the fight’s the fight,” Roach said.
But Roach emphasized that if Mayweather defeats Ortiz he and Pacquiao will be tad waiting.
“Last time, we agreed to everything he asked. On my side and on Manny’s side, we want that fight a hundred percent. We’re gonna fight Marquez in November and anytime after that. And if Mayweather wants to fight the next day, we’ll be ready. “
Roach also emphasized that money won’t be an issue in the rumored upcoming fight. Afterall, money’s no big deal in a world where the baseline for glory is strength of body, mind and spirit, and the endurance to win.
